Abstract

天皇海山列の東方に漂流ブイを放流し,風圧流の影響を受けやすい漂流ブイの移動を観測することによって東日本大震災の津波で流出した漁船等の漂流事例の一部を明らかにする.放流された漂流ブイは蛇行しながら東方へ移動し,放流後155日以降カナダ西海岸のバンクーバー島沖合において概ね周回した.漂流ブイは放流後175日にバンクーバー島に最も近くに位置し,漁船等の漂流事例を概ね支持する.過去に観測した岩手県沖合から天皇海山列までの漂流ブイの移動時間等を参考にすると,岩手県沖合からカナダ西海岸までの漂流ブイの移動時間は概ね1年程度であり,漁船等の漂流事例を概ね支持する.漂流ブイ移動速度は海上風速度と高い相関があり,天皇海山列以東の漂流ブイの移動は海上風速度から推定できる可能性を示す.
