The Breadth and Depth of C-H Functionalization O rganic compounds, which have vast structural diversity, are heavily decorated with C-H bonds that differ by carbon hybridization, level of carbon substitution, bond strength, proximity to functional groups, and steric or electronic environments.These features all provide an opportunity for the selective activation and functionalization of specific C-H bonds within molecules.Many innovative approaches have been developed to achieve this goal for applications ranging from natural product synthesis to the more efficient discovery, development, and production of new materials, agrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals.The 48 articles that make up this special issue on C-H functionalization highlight that the exploration and development of the field is truly an international endeavor, with contributions from many different countries, including Belgium, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, India,
