Notre travail vise à examiner les métamorphoses du personnage de la bergère Jbara dans le roman de Saphia Azzeddine Confidences à Allah. Dans un premier temps, nous nous intéresserons à l’aspect générique du récit, plus précisément au rapport entre la narratrice et le destinataire Allah. Dans un second temps, nous observerons la métamorphose de Jbara qui se pervertit à une femme prostituée. À la fin, nous analyserons un nouveau changement du personnage de Jbara dû à son expérience dans la prison et à sa tentative de redevenir une femme traditionnelle. L’objectif de ce travail est de montrer que les changements permanents et les revirements du personnage de Jbara émanent de son désir d’échapper à la misère et d’oser lever la voix féminine contre l’hypocrisie sociale et contre la soumission de la femme dans la société marocaine. Ainsi seront examinés les procédés littéraires auxquels l’auteure recourt afin de montrer l’évolution et l’émancipation du personnage principal. Nous observerons les spécificités génériques et formelles du roman ainsi que le lien entre le genre du récit, la marginalité et l’engagement féminin.
