Abstract
This report provides a summary of the stratigraphic evolution of the Upper Devonian Jean Marie Member (Redknife Formation) and a characterization of its major reservoir facies from the July Lake area of northeastern British Columbia. Six cross-sections, based on the description of 18 m cores from 18 wells, show the cyclic makeup of the Jean Marie Member and the distribution of its major depositional facies. An interpretive cross-section, based on the distribution of facies in these cross-sections, provides a model illustrating the evolution of the Jean Marie Member in the July Lake area. Three main growth stages are identified. In the July Lake area, three major reservoir facies are recognized. Pore networks in these reservoir facies are highly variable because of the interaction of depositional, diagenetic and tectonic processes. In addition, the results of the initial stable and radiogenic isotopic analyses of the main diagenetic components are made available.
