L’exclusion ponctuelle de cours est, dans l’enseignement secondaire français, une routine de la gestion des problèmes de discipline qui contribuerait au décrochage scolaire. Cet article décrit les pratiques enseignantes consistant à renvoyer des élèves de classe et leur prise en charge par les services de vie scolaire dans trois collèges de l’éducation prioritaire. Il s’appuie sur des entretiens menés avec les personnels de ces établissements, sur des observations de cours et d’espaces de vie scolaire. Les résultats dévoilent la participation de cette pratique à la construction de la carrière de déviant des élèves. Au regard de ce processus favorisant le décrochage, les pratiques d’une éducation inclusive sont discutées, en particulier dans une perspective de formation initiale des enseignants.
