Après une brève mise en contexte de la situation syndicale en éducation au Québec, l’article traite de la création et du développement d’une équipe de recherche au sein de la Centrale des syndicats du Québec (CSQ) qui, à cette époque, en 1983, s’appelait Centrale de l’enseignement du Québec. Partant de la situation de crise syndicale et professionnelle qui a présidé à cette création, on décrit la manière dont a été conçue la programmation de recherche et ses rapports ultérieurs au processus politique interne de l’organisation. Par la suite, on aborde les principales thématiques développées au fil du temps, en identifiant leurs impacts politiques, tant à l’interne qu’à l’externe. La dernière section traite des transformations des relations entre la CSQ et le milieu de la recherche suite à la création de l’équipe de recherche, décrivant le passage d’une relation utilitaire à diverses formes d’institutionnalisation de cette relation.
