Abstract
This work discusses the impact of the inverse chirp z-transform (ICZT) for signal processing on image reconstruction in a clinical radar-based breast microwave imaging (BMI) system operating over the frequency range of 1-8 GHz. Two anthropomorphic breast phantoms were scanned with this system, and the impact of using the ICZT for frequency-to-time-domain conversion relative to using the inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT) was investigated. The delay-multiply-and-sum beamformer was used to reconstruct images of the scanned phantoms. The use of the IDFT resulted in large circular artefacts that were not present when using the ICZT, and the use of the ICZT resulted in higher contrast between the tumour and clutter responses. In one of the phantoms, the tumour response was only visible in reconstructions when using the ICZT.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
