In this paper, a new approach to enhance the speed and accuracy of the antenna near-field measurements and near-field to far-field (NF-FF) transformation is proposed. First, a uniform measurement is performed using an electronically switched probe array. Then an adaptive algorithm is developed that starts with a small number of samples and gradually focuses on the areas with highly dynamic near-field pattern and increases the number of samples over such regions. Thus, the number of required samples for an accurate result decreases significantly, and consequently the speed of the back projection algorithm increases.
