Cette contribution s’appuie sur une recherche qualitative centrée sur l’intégration d’enseignants migrants travaillant dans les écoles québécoises. Dans ces contextes, ils sont vulnérabilisés : d’une part, leurs conditions d’emploi sont dégradées, car ils sont recrutés sur des statuts précaires et souvent affectés à des postes hors de leur expertise disciplinaire; d’autre part, leur place dans les relations de travail est fragile, car faute d’expérience au Québec, ils ne partagent pas d’emblée les conventions locales de travail et sont alors faiblement intégrés dans leur écologie professionnelle. Leurs activités sont donc marquées par des surprises et des chocs, mais aussi par des « faux pas » perçus comme des transgressions des normes en vigueur. Notre dispositif d’enquête, fondé sur des entretiens collectifs associant des enseignants migrants et des partenaires de travail, conduit à réévaluer ces expériences et situations. Une analyse des interactions qui s’y déroulent et des ficelles méthodologiques employées par la chercheuse permet l’expression d’interprétations stéréotypiques implicites qui alimentent la vulnérabilisation au travail des enseignants migrants. Ces interprétations se jouent dans le sens d’une stigmatisation sur deux plans : celui des conduites quotidiennes manifestes et celui des assignations identitaires plus diffuses.
