Double Layer Hard Surface for Dual-Polarization applications

Abstract
A new type of dual-polarized double layer hard surface is introduced. The structure consists of two stacked dielectric substrates. The bottom substrate act as high impedance electromagnetic bandgap structure and the top one is loaded with longitudinal strips, which transfer the upper surface to a GO characteristic of a hard surface. To show the validity of the proposed structure, transmission between dipoles and monopoles is tested. The structure is supposed to provide flexibility to the nature of the hard surface in terms of bending and realization of a relatively thin (<; λ/2) dually polarized guiding structure.
