L’héritage d’OK Computer : Influence de l’esthétique de Radiohead dans les productions de Leprous

Abstract
La sortie de l’album OK Computer en 1997 a eu un impact fort sur la production rock des années 2000. Regard critique sur la société consumériste occidentale, travail du son ou encore partis pris musicaux : chacun de ces éléments a montré, une fois de plus, l’importance accordée à la dimension esthétique et rhétorique dans les productions de musiques actuelles amplifiées. L’influence des productions de Radiohead a largement dépassé le cadre du rock britannique, jusqu’à traverser les frontières stylistiques des différents répertoires qui segmentent les musiques actuelles amplifiées. Nous proposons d’illustrer cette assertion par un exemple venant du metal progressif, en nous appuyant sur le groupe norvégien Leprous, dont le principal compositeur, Einar Solberg, ne cache pas l’influence du quintet d’Oxford – et notamment d’OK computer – sur ses créations. Nous pourrons ainsi observer de quelle manière l’esthétique de Radiohead trouve un écho parmi des albums tels que The Congregation ou Malina, autant du point de vue musical que littéraire ou de l’art visuel.
