Abstract
En este articulo se hace un estudio comparativo de los resultados del proceso de globalizacion en cinco paises del continente, el cual permite comprender que la clave, no solamente para la sobrevivencia del movimiento sindical sino incluso para su fortalecimiento en una coyuntura desfavorable, es la estrategia que es capaz de desplegar frente a la estructura de oportunidades economicas y politicas, los marcos regulatorios o institucionales establecidos y el tipo de fuente de poder sobre los que se asienta su accion. Las estrategias de los movimientos sindicales de Brasil y Canada y de Estados Unidos despues de 1995, les permitieron ganar un importante lugar en el escenario politico laboral a traves del desarrollo de nuevas fuentes de poder y de recursos dentro del sistema politico, y dentro de la negociacion colectiva, ofreciendo importantes argumentos contra la idea de que el movimiento sindical esta condenado a su desaparicion.
