Abstract
Pergerakan manusia dari satu tempat ke tempat merupakan hak manusia paling dasar sebagai mahluk. Dengan berpindahnya manusia dari satu tempat ke tempat lain maka dapat dipastikan mereka mendapatkan rezeki atau keuntungan dengan kegiatan yang mereka lakukan. Pemikiran ini menjadi dasar mengapa banyak imigran melakukan perpindahan dari satu tempat ke tempat lain. Tulisan ini ingin melihat representasi imigran dalam isi pesan media massa era pertarungan perang dingin blok barat dan timur? Dengan demikian maka akan diketahui apa biang permasalahan potensi konflik yang mungkin muncul antara imigran dengan orang tempatan. Di samping itu juga akan diketahui prediksi kejahatan (kriminalitas) dan penanganan manajemen imigran ke depan. Teori yang digunakan dalam tulisan ini adalah kajian komunikasi antar budaya, kesadaran budaya kolektif, identitas diri dan analisis isi framing. Dari pembahasan ditemukan bahwa representasi imigran sedemikian buruk dari media massa warisan perang dingin, karena gambaran perang dan penaklukan ditempelkan pada sosok mereka dalam konteks blok timur. Biang konflik ada pada identitas buruk tersebut dan perlu manajemen penangan ketat dengan mengutamakan aspek kemanusian dalam semangat keterbukaan dan pasar bebas yang ada.
