Abstract
Une majorité d’enfants sous la protection de la jeunesse ont vécu des traumas complexes liés à la négligence, la maltraitance et diverses formes d’abus. Nous suggérons que ces jeunes présentent, tout comme leurs parents, des défauts importants quant à leur capacité de mentalisation ainsi qu’un fonctionnement psychique caractéristique des modes de pensée prémentalisants. Cet article présente une opérationnalisation de ces différents modes de pensée (modes téléologique, d’équivalence psychique et fictif). Les principes sous-jacents à un programme d’intervention basé sur la mentalisation pouvant être utilisé par les éducateurs qui travaillent auprès d’enfants hébergés dans divers milieux spécialisés de la protection de la jeunesse sont décrits. Enfin, une étude préliminaire concernant l’efficacité de ce programme est brièvement présentée.
