Abstract
Au cours des décennies qui se sont écoulées depuis sa création en 1929, le journal Le Franco, anciennement La Survivance, s’est présenté comme un espace d’expression publique et une plateforme importante dans différents dossiers – communautaires, constitutionnels et scolaires – touchant à la francophonie albertaine. Peu à peu, d’abord durant les années 1990, et plus intensément durant les années 2000, la thématique de l’immigration s’est imposée comme un dossier incontournable dans les milieux franco-albertains. L’arrivée en scène de cette nouvelle thématique a mené à la reconfiguration du journal Le Franco en tant que lieu d’expression de la diversité. Ce texte se propose d’éclairer la mise en forme de l’immigration dans les pages du journal Le Franco, en plus de réfléchir à l’impact de ce discours médiatique sur la population immigrante.
