Abstract
Methamphetamine-induced psychotic disorders occur frequently in methamphetamine users. While the majority of persons have their psychotic symptoms clear rapidly with abstinence alone, a significant subset go on to have persistent psychotic symptoms or convert to a primary psychotic disorder. A clinical case is used to illustrate means to differentiate methamphetamine-induced psychotic disorders from primary psychotic disorders, followed by a review of the evidence-based treatment options for methamphetamine-induced psychotic disorders. Les troubles psychotiques induits par la méthamphétamine sont fréquents chez les utilisateurs de méthamphétamine. Alors que la majorité des personnes voient leurs symptômes psychotiques disparaître rapidement avec l’abstinence seule, un sous-groupe important continue d’avoir des symptômes psychotiques persistants ou les symptômes se transforment en un trouble psychotique primaire.
