El retamo espinoso (Ulex europaeus L.), es una especie exotica invasora (EEI) peligrosa que se establece en todos los continentes del mundo debido a sus caracteristicas fisiologicas, botanicas, dendrologicas y ecologicas, esta se adapta con facilidad representando asi un alto riesgo ambiental ya que compite con las especies de flora y fauna endemicas de diferentes paises del mundo como Colombia, Estados Unidos, Canada; Costa Rica; Brasil, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Islas Canarias, Australia, Sur Africa, Madagascar, India, Birmania, Japon hasta el punto invadir grandes porciones de ecosistemas nativos.Debido a la invasion del retamo en fincas dedicadas al sector agropecuario en la vereda Santa Rosa la localidad Ciudad Bolivar (Bogota, Colombia) se ha materializado un riesgo economico en las comunidades campesinas, las cuales basan su fuente de ingresos en el sector agropecuario, ya que implica perdidas de terrenos cultivables, las lesiones en el ganado lo cual genera reprocesos, generandose perdida de dinero, tiempo y desmotivacion al sector agropecuario, donde el campesino debe invertir recursos adicionales para el control del retamo impactandose los ingresos de la poblacion afectada por esta invasion.
