Stromal mast cells as a favorable prognostic marker in early breast cancer
Bibliographic record
Abstract
1060 With greater proportions of invasive breast cancers today presenting as smaller and node negative, better prognostic markers are required to select women in whom adjuvant systemic therapies offer the greatest potential benefit. We constructed a tissue microarray (TMA) of 348 cases with a median follow-up of 14.3 years to assess for such prognostic and predictive factors. Utilizing antibodies to CD-117, CD-3, CD-20, and CD-68 we assessed for the prognostic significance for the presence of mast cells, relative to T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes and macrophages respectively. Correlation with standard prognostic markers was also undertaken. In the 348 TMA cases, 58% were node negative, 71% were ER positive and 13% were HER2 positive. As expected, ER positive cases were associated with a good prognosis (p=0.008) whereas HER2 positive cases were associated with a poorer prognosis (p=0.023). CD-117 positive mast cells were detected in the surrounding stoma in 27% of cases. The presence of stromal mast cells correlated with a favorable prognosis in the entire cohort (p

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
