Abstract
There is a similarity between Chinese poetry and Symbolism in the preference for implicature. This ressemblance makes the introduction of Symbolism in China possible. Long before the birth of modern Chinese literature, Symbolism had been introduced to China already. But Li Jinfa, the first Chinese symbolist poet, began his poetic creation in Paris, where Symbolism is born and flourished, after reading the works of Baudelaire and Verlaine. In the creation of new poetry, Dai Wangshu’s feature is “mature”, which manifests not only in his sensitive and delicate style but also in his positive attitude towards the integration of Chinese and Western art. He accurately understands Symbolism, meanwhile gives full consideration to the local poetry tradition. And thus points out a brand new direction for the Chinese new poetry creation by his own practice and exploration.
