Surnomme par ses concitoyens quebecois «le Paderewski du Canada», le pianiste et compositeur Emiliano Renaud (1875-1932) se distingue par le choix original de son lieu d’etude et par les nombreux succes qui jalonnent sa carriere musicale le menant hors des frontieres de son pays natal. Ses prouesses techniques lui ont permis de repousser les limites du concert generalement presente a son epoque. Musicien moderne, il etablit un lien privilegie avec la radio et favorise ainsi la democratisation de l’enseignement musical et la diffusion de la musique classique : un theme encore tres important au 21e siecle. Cette biographie, la premiere sur le sujet, permet de retracer les etapes importantes de sa vie musicale et de rehabiliter ainsi ce musicien injustement relegue dans l’oubli apres sa mort.
