Abstract
Cet article montre comment les Innus d’Unamen Shipu – une bande autochtone de chasseurs-cueilleurs nomades de la famille linguistique algonquienne – ont négocié leur rapport au travail salarié depuis leur sédentarisation dans les années 1950. Le travail salarié assure aujourd’hui la plus grande partie de la subsistance des Innus et ce majoritairement en raison des pressions assimilatrices des gouvernements du Québec et du Canada. Néanmoins, le mode de production chasseur-cueilleur n’a jamais disparu et prend toujours une place importante dans la vie des Innus d’Unamen Shipu. J’explique cette continuité par l’importance que prennent ces activités économiques dans la production des personnes chez les Innus et dans l’établissement de relations sociales spécifiques à leur culture.
