El presente articulo recoge las conclusiones de un estudio realizado por el autor sobre experiencias educativas de caracter inclusivo desarrolladas en escuelas canadienses del area de Toronto. Ademas de la visita a escuelas y aulas donde los ninos con discapacidad compartian su trabajo con sus companeros en un entorno normalizado, las entrevistas con profesores, directores, auxiliares, estudiantes y padres han completado una vision amplia de las posibilidades y dificultades del enfoque inclusivo en el contexto canadiense. La experiencia inclusiva se presenta en confrontacion con la situacion de la integracion escolar en Espana, donde parece que no se produce un cambio que lleve a las escuelas a la puesta en marcha de una educacion inclusiva. El articulo trata de analizar que elementos se encuentran en la practica educativa de las escuelas inclusivas que pudieran servir de reflexion a quienes gestionan y desarrollan la educacion en Espana sobre la necesidad de introducir determinados cambios que promuevan la transicion de una escuela integradora a una escuela inclusiva.
