Cet ouvrage presente les actes d'un colloque international qui s'est tenu a Quebec du 4 au 6 octobre 2018, sous le titre « Marie Guyart de l'Incarnation (Tours, 1599 – Quebec, 1672) : Singularite et universalite d'une femme de cœur et de raison ». Cet evenement soulignait particulierement les vingt-cinq ans du Centre d'Etudes Marie-de-l'Incarnation (CEMI). Jusqu'a maintenant, le CEMI avait consacre ses activites a la decouverte des multiples aspects particuliers de Marie de l'Incarnation. Ce colloque se distingue des travaux precedents en s'appliquant a mettre en evidence l'universalite qui surgit paradoxalement de l'etonnante singularite de cette femme. Les differents chercheurs presentent ici Marie de l'Incarnation comme personnage historique, fondatrice, educatrice, missionnaire, maitresse de vie spirituelle, femme forte d'une jeune colonie et educatrice bienveillante des petites amerindiennes, mais aussi comme femme de lettres, mystique, « theologienne » et maitresse de vie spirituelle, moderne a part entiere. Resolument pluridisciplinaire dans ses approches, cet ouvrage, tout en rendant justice a la richesse singuliere d'une fondatrice inscrite dans un moment particulier de l'histoire, ouvre sur la dimension universelle d'une femme de cœur et de raison d'une exceptionnelle actualite.
