No final da década de 1970 Michel Foucault, nos seus cursos no Collège de France, procurou problematizar a emergência do neoliberalismo. Tomando como base esse cenário, este artigo discute a genealogia do neoliberalismo sob o viés foucaultiano, ampliando a análise para a contemporaneidade com os aportes de Gilles Deleuze, Christian Laval, Pierre Dardot, Alfredo Veiga-Neto e outros. Além disso, o texto sinaliza alguns desdobramentos tanto no mundo do trabalho quanto na Educação, a partir da construção de uma formação que deve ser empreendedora, flexível, autônoma e empresária de si mesmo; enfim, um sujeito que se constitua em um capital humano competitivo em termos de empregabilidade.
