Abstract
Cet article se propose de traiter d’un thème peu abordé en linguistique jusqu’à présent : l’usage et la transmission de langues créoles dans la diaspora d’un point de vue synchronique. En se fondant sur l’exemple du créole mauricien en situation diasporique au Canada francophone et anglophone, l’article entend fournir un cadre de travail adéquat pour toute étude sociolinguistique et, plus précisément, idéolinguistique, portant sur des langues créoles hors de leurs contextes originels. Les premiers résultats du projet en cours sur l’usage et la transmission du créole mauricien au Canada démontrent que l’identité linguistique des locuteurs est soumise à des processus d’hybridation linguistique.
