Abstract
Ce texte est une réflexion sur la « quête de la mort » dans le djihadisme contemporain. Cette quête serait, d’après Olivier Roy, l’élément fondamental du projet des jeunes générations de terroristes. Pour comprendre le phénomène, des textes de Freud et d’Hélène L’Heuillet sont d’abord analysés. Il en ressort que le terrorisme n’était pas, auparavant, associé à la volonté de mourir, mais plutôt à la volonté de combattre au risque de mourir, ce qui est différent. Cette approche est cependant problématique à certains égards. Car il est également vrai que la quête de la mort est une constante des « profondeurs » de la psyché humaine et, qu’en ce sens, il n’est pas surprenant de la voir ressurgir au sein du terrorisme et du djihadisme. Il est nécessaire de rappeler, avec Monique Lauret, l’importance d’utiliser avec prudence l’hypothèse freudienne de la pulsion de mort, sans oublier le cas particulier des femmes « volontaires de la mort ».
