Dos personajes por nivel en una carcel vertical de tamano desconocido. Cada dia desciende una plataforma con comida para todos que solo se para unos minutos en cada planta. Los niveles superiores pueden saciarse, pero el hambre aceha a los de abajo. Esta es la premisa de El Hoyo, la opera prima de Galder Gastelu-Urrutia, cinta fotografiada por Hon. D. Dominguez AEC, galardonada con el premio del publico en Toronto y primera pelicula espanola ganadora del Festival de Sitges, donde tambien triunfo en la catergoria de mejores efectos especiales, premio del publico y director revelacion.
