Abstract
El Front Popular, fundat com a reacció a l’agressivitat amenaçadora dels contraris a Gueuse, va relligar les aspiracions cap a una república democràtica i social. La irrupció inesperada i victoriosa dels treballadors va soscavar la dimensió interclasse de l'Estat sense agitar el seu centre de poder, el llit calent d'una forma de conservadorisme confós amb l'estabilitat. Això era especialment evident en qüestions de diplomàcia i finances, que van ser la font de desafiament i venjança entre 1938 i 1940, en un context de tensió internacional. Amb una gran decepció, tot va portar al règim a desviar-se tant dels seus compromisos com dels seus principis.
