Cet article traite de deux dimensions importantes de la société de consommation qui se déploie en Amérique du Nord au cours des « Trente glorieuses »: la publicité et la banlieue. En analysant un corpus composé de 3000 publicités pour des résidences suburbaines montréalaises publiées dans la presse à grand tirage dans les années 1950 et 1960, cet article tâche de mettre en relief les façons dont les auteurs de ces documents mettent en récit le rêve et le mode de vie suburbain pour arriver à leurs fins. Cette mise en récit n’est pas étrangère au succès et à la persistance de cet idéal suburbain.
