Abstract
L’étude à la base de cet article montre que, dans le contexte de la diversité croissante de la population suisse, des ressources langagières relevant de la variation régionale commencent à signifier de nouvelles frontières de type ethno-national. Ce changement indexical consiste à exclure de la signification sociale d’une variante locale le trait d’ethnicité majoritaire lorsqu’elle côtoie des marques d’accent étranger, ce qui annule la plus-value que les personnes migrantes pourraient retirer de l’usage de variantes locales. Ce résultat démontre un paradoxe : l’appropriation par des personnes issues de l’immigration des ressources langagières qui permettent une intégration sociale ne contribue pas à réduire leur minorisation.
