Untuk mengurangi kerusakan akibat bencana gempa di Kabupaten Pandeglang, wilayah bahaya gempabumi dan kerentanan terhadap gempabumi harus ditentukan. Wilayah bahaya gempa di Kabupaten Pandeglang ditentukan oleh nilai PGA (Peak Ground Acceleration), struktur geologi, litologi dan kemiringan lereng. Untuk mengetahui daerah bahaya gempa, metode skoring dan analisis spasial digunakan. Setelah menentukan daerah bahaya gempa, maka grid yang mewakili daerah bahaya gempa dapat diidentifikasi. Bahaya gempa, kepadatan dan kualitas bangunan di permukiman daerah penelitian diidentifikasi oleh sistem grid dan survei. Wilayah rentan terhadap gempabumi di sebelah barat Kabupaten Pandeglang (studi kasus: sebagian Cigeulis, Cimanggu dan Sumur) ditentukan dengan menganalisis bahaya gempa, kepadatan dan kualitas bangunan. Sehingga dapat diketahui daerah dengan kerentanan tinggi, sedang dan rendah di daerah penelitian. Wilayah dengan kerentanan tinggi terhadap gempabumi terletak di permukiman Kecamatan Sumberjaya Kecamatan Sumur.
