Abstract
Vortex shedding from a nonparallel two-cylinder tandem geometry with a yawed downstream cylinder is investigated using surface pressure measurements and flow field measurements with particle image velocimetry (PIV). The effect of yaw angle, cylinder spacing, and Reynolds number on the shedding frequency are considered. Results demonstrate that yaw angle and local spacing have a significant impact on the frequency of vortex shedding. Peak patterns in the pressure-time series frequency spectra suggest the presence of spanwise flow cells. PIV measurements of the average flow field between the two cylinders show the upstream cylinder recirculation region in the gap varies in size across the span. Combined with the spectral peak patterns, this information offers an indication as to the types of shedding regimes that could be present at different spanwise locations, including reattachment, coshedding, and bistable flows.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
