Abstract
This article is intended to illuminate a strength-based approach to working with what has been commonly classified as “dysfunctional anger.” The author demonstrates how he embraced Flemons's (2002) understanding of change to facilitate a comfortable connection with a young male Latino client, who struggled managing expressions of anger and was unaware of his ability to productively focus “adrenaline” behavior. As a result, a therapeutic conversation emerged that supported Anderson's (2012) idea of relational expertise, which accentuates both the client's wisdom and the therapist's clinical skills.
