Abstract
Cet article tente d'elucider comment le systeme de protection des droits de l'homme de l'Organisation des Nations Unies (ONU) aborde la problematique de la selection fondee sur le sexe, c'est-a-dire l'ensemble des pratiques discriminatoires a l'egard des filles visant a favoriser la naissance et l'epanouissement des fils au sein de la famille. Concretement, cet article propose une analyse des travaux du Comite pour l'elimination de la discrimination a l'egard des femmes et du Comite des droits de l'enfant. Il s’attarde d’une part aux recommandations/observations generales de ces deux comites et d’autre part aux observations finales adressees a la Chine et a l’Inde. L’analyse demontre une progression dans la comprehension des causes et des effets de la selection fondee sur le sexe, mais aussi un certain decalage avec la realite sur le terrain.
