Abstract
Esse ensaio desenvolve o argumento de a cobrança/os ventos da internacionalização ameaçam a contextualidade e significado da pesquisa contábil qualitativa, especialmente quando internacionalização implica que pesquisadores e pesquisadoras de instituição não-anglófonas considerem ou são cobrados para publicarem seus trabalhos em periódicos de alto impacto de língua inglesa. Eu argumento que a ameaça da internacionalização opera por meio de três processos descontextualizantes – linguístico, cultural e epistemológico. Pesquisadores e pesquisadoras engajados em pesquisas qualitativas devem tomar cuidado antes de embarcar no movimento de internacionalização, visto que tal movimento representa um risco significativo para suas pesquisas – o de subestimar ou marginalizar maneiras de falar, pensar, pesquisar e escrever. Por fim, faço algumas sugestões que podem auxiliar a manter a internacionalização sob vigilância e, talvez, atenuar seus efeitos negativos na contextualidade dos esforços de pesquisa qualitativa.
