Abstract
Maurice Richard (1921-2000) est le plus célèbre joueur de la plus célèbre équipe de hockey en Amérique du Nord, les Canadiens de Montréal. Plus qu’une vedette sportive, Richard est un véritable mythe national. Paradoxalement se conjuguent en lui la grandeur et la proximité, des actes qui le distinguent des mortels et d’autres qui en font un semblable. Par ce mélange, Maurice Richard est une «idole du peuple» typiquement québécoise.
