Abstract
I migrantifrancesi e i loro sogni americani nell'Ottocento. Arricchirsi costituisce un elemento centrale nella motivazione di centinaia di migliaia di migranti lasciando la Francia nell'Ottocento per insediarsi in America, dall'Argentina al Canada. Questa ricerca faceva parte di una cultura d'immigrazione transatlantica che nutriva le ambizioni personali di donne e uomini di cui le esperienze migratorie si sono tradotte nei risultati contrastant : il numero di ritorni in dietro diceva il fallimento mentre con le partenze si vedeva la permanenza del sogno americano. Infatti, i migranti francesi non erono diversi dai loro vicini europei.
