Abstract
La psychothérapie de groupe possède des avantages complémentaires à la thérapie individuelle. L’expertise sur l’intervention groupale s’est développée en réponse aux problèmes sociaux d’une époque. Après un retour sur les diverses théories qui ont abordé les phénomènes psychiques propres au groupe, l’article illustre les avantages thérapeutiques reliés à une approche où thérapie individuelle et thérapie de groupe sont utilisées conjointement. L’article avance que les groupes thérapeutiques offrent un laboratoire propice au développement d’habilités relationnelles et favorisent une insertion harmonieuse des personnes dans leur environnement. Les analyses se situent dans une perspective existentielle/humaniste, éclairées par les avancées récentes des neurosciences affectives.
