Abstract
Au Canada, la saison nationale de la grippe a commencé à la semaine 47, entre le 17 et le 23 novembre 2019.Des 3 762 détections des cas de grippe confirmées en laboratoire ayant été signalées entre le 25 août et le 14 décembre 2019, 61 % étaient de type A, et 68 % des cas qui ont été sous-typés étaient de grippe A(H3N2).Les détections de la grippe type B étaient supérieures à la moyenne pour cette période de l'année.Les indicateurs de l'activité grippale se situaient à l'intérieur de la plage prévue pour cette période de l'année.La majorité des hospitalisations signalées dans les provinces et territoires ont été associées à la grippe A(H3N2) (76 %), la plus importante proportion se constituant de personnes âgées de 65 ans et plus (40 %).Parmi les hospitalisations pédiatriques sentinelles attribuables à la grippe, 55 % étaient associées à la grippe A, la plupart de patients étant âgés de moins de 5 ans (63 %).Les résultats d'une caractérisation antigénique et génétique obtenus à ce jour indiquent que la majorité des virus A(H3N2) et B en circulation ne sont pas semblables aux composants viraux recommandés pour les vaccins antigrippaux de la saison 2019 à 2020 et que la majorité des virus A(H1N1) en circulation sont semblables aux souches vaccinales de référence.
