Abstract
Nas chamadas telefônicas dirigidas ao serviço de emergência, é comum que o estado emocional do chamador esteja alterado, em virtude do caráter perturbador do acontecimento motivador da chamada e da necessidade de se tomarem providências rapidamente. No entanto, apesar da premência característica de tais situações, um olhar atento revela que essas interações costumam desenvolver-se de maneira eficiente e inteligível, e podem ser consideradas harmoniosas. Há, entretanto, uma situação singular que é marcada pelo surgimento de dificuldades de comunicação entre o chamador e o atendente: quando uma pessoa é declarada morta. Esta contribuição se interessa pelas chamadas de emergência em que é feito um anúncio de morte. Nossa análise, conduzida numa perspectiva interacionista, baseia-se num corpus de chamadas dirigidas ao serviço telefônico de emergência 9-1-1. Descreve a resistência do chamador às solicitações e às instruções do atendente nessa situação. Concluímos que esse desalinhamento interacional está associado ao caráter padronizado do treinamento recebido pelos atendentes.
