Abstract
Le loup-garou est le personnage central d’un mouvement de poésie francophone contemporaine en Louisiane, un symbole des tensions de marginalité pour des poètes d’héritages variés. Ces écrivains présentent un lycanthrope classique : une personne qui se transforme en loup. Or, dans la littérature ethnographique louisianaise, le loup-garou paraît le plus souvent comme un chien, un animal chimère ou un fantôme. Les études cataloguant cette croyance populaire sont rares. D’autres sources non scientifiques indiquent l’existence de légendes concernant des loups. La forme du loup-garou littéraire diffère de celle du personnage folklorique, mais certains éléments de la tradition orale persistent dans la poésie.
