Abstract
Plusieurs des romans de Boubacar Boris Diop s’organisent autour d’un personnage féminin énigmatique, à la fois au centre et en marge du récit. Cet article porte en particulier sur Johanna Simentho, Khadidja et Mumbi Awele, figures d’exception dans un univers romanesque qui semble souvent incohérent. Elles jouent en effet un rôle clé dans les fables politiques des romans de Diop dont elles marquent une certaine évolution. Ainsi, alors que la reine Johanna incarne la critique du néocolonialisme, Khadidja, la conteuse, permet de questionner les mythes qui entraînent les peuples dans des guerres meurtrières. Mumbi Awele, l’artiste, se présente, dans ce contexte, comme la figure de la justicière, esquissant une voie d’issue de ces configurations traditionnelles où héros sauveurs et monstres s’affrontent continuellement.
