Dans cette contribution, je propose de faire une analyse thématique de la notion d’aventure en me basant sur le Virgile travesti de Scarron, et particulièrement sur le personnage d’Énée. Les thèmes du voyage, de la guerre et de l’amour, présents dans les définitions de Furetière aux termes aventure et aventurier , permettent en effet de montrer comment cette notion joue un rôle important dans un genre comme le travestissement de l’épopée, mais aussi de constater qu’elle est le creuset où s’opère la rencontre entre le texte antique et différents éléments de la culture française du XVII e siècle, qu’il s’agisse d’éléments sociaux ou moraux, issus de la culture lettrée ou populaire.
