Abstract
Cet article traite d’une pratique de rémunération répandue en Amérique du Nord que l’on nomme two-tier wage ou two-tier compensation . Appelée disparité de traitement au Québec, cette pratique prévoit un traitement distinct au chapitre de la rémunération entre les employés selon leur date d’embauche. Cet article présente un portrait des différentes disparités observées dans les conventions collectives d’établissement et de leur développement au Québec. Il explique comment cette forme de discrimination salariale et les différences de rémunération qu’elle entraîne entre anciens et nouveaux employés se construisent et sont justifiées. L’article repose sur des enquêtes de terrain et des analyses de données statistiques disponibles réalisées par les auteurs au cours des ans.
