Abstract
Dans cette période de migration transatlantique vers le Canada, les émigrants français se sont dirigés en majorité vers les provinces du Québec ou de la Prairie où le migrant français pouvait plus facilement s’intégrer dans une communauté francophone et catholique déjà établie. Qu’en est-il des rares émigrants qui se sont installés en Colombie-Britannique, province anglaise et protestante par excellence, éloignée des centres de population et d’émigration valorisés dans les brochures en France, et dont l’accès était compliqué et lointain pour les émigrants français ? Cet article dresse un panorama de la présence française en Colombie-Britannique à travers l’analyse des recensements de population et d’un ensemble de témoignages de consuls et de voyageurs.
