Abstract
Entre 1906 et 1908, le docteur lillois Adalbert Tanche essaie de lancer une colonie socialiste sur une ferme près de Red Deer en Alberta. Cet article examine le contexte français de cette migration utopiste vers le Canada et ses bases idéologiques. Il analyse les indices qui permettent de décrire cette entreprise comme fouriériste, ainsi que les difficultés que les immigrants ont connues à s’établir dans la prairie canadienne. L’expérience de la colonie socialiste démontre la diversité politique de l’immigration française envers le Canada pendant la période de la Grande migration transatlantique.
