Abstract
Il existe une confusion entre les processus émotionnels relatifs au deuil pathologique, qui est surrepré senté dans la littérature, et ceux du deuil résilient. La tristesse, émotion utile au deuil résilient, est mal différenciée de la détresse et de la dépression, conséquences du deuil pathologique. Il existerait un lien entre les capacités de mentalisation et l’aptitude à vivre de la tristesse. Un modèle théorique proposant un continuum entre le deuil résilient et le deuil pathologique sera élaboré. Ce modèle remettra en question l’idée que les phases de protestation et de désespoir de la théorie de l’attachement, utilisées dans la conceptualisation des processus émotionnels du deuil, s’appliquent autant au deuil résilient qu’au deuil pathologique. Les implications sur la psychothérapie seront abordées.
