Abstract
L’immigration française dans le sud-ouest ontarien était modeste comparée aux autres groupes immigrants de la région. Toutefois, cette petite communauté avait deux familles d’affaires renommées, dont les Girardot et les Robinet, toutes les deux de la ville de Sandwich. Les deux familles avaient une longue tradition de viticulture, et elles ont engagé plusieurs ouvriers migrants français entre 1880 et 1940. Jules Robinet, homme d’affaires, s’impliquait dans plusieurs entreprises, dont une briqueterie, la construction, la viticulture et les transactions immobilières. Après la faillite de la famille Girardot, autre fabricant français de vin de la région, les vies des migrants français gravitaient autour de Jules Robinet, qui était à la fois, patron, agent immobilier, et client d’affaires des membres de cette communauté.
