Abstract
Le terme fablab décrit un lieu physique qui permet la fabrication et l’expérimentation numérique. Que nous apprend le lancement du fablab hébergé dans le Centre d’entrepreneuriat de Shawinigan, en Mauricie (Québec)? Nous avons choisi d’examiner les leviers organisationnels et les indicateurs de suivi. Les principaux enseignements de ce cas portent sur la nécessité de situer ce que sera le fablab : son positionnement, les acteurs concernés, le type de gouvernance choisi et, enfin, le modèle de revenus une fois les subventions épuisées. De plus, des choix opérationnels délicats doivent être faits quant au degré d’ouverture, aux coûts d’accès, aux activités proposées et aux modalités de gestion des lieux. Enfin, des indicateurs de performance permettent un guidage fin et une adaptation du lieu. Ils ne se limitent pas aux traditionnels impacts économiques, mais doivent intégrer des dimensions de développement local, de satisfaction des participants, de qualité des processus et d’apprentissage.
