CQ1: What are the main features of frailty?(How is frailty defined?) Statement• The Japan Geriatrics Society has proposed fureiru as the Japanese term for frailty, defining it as "a state of reduced ability to recover from stress resulting from an age-related decline in reserves."• Frailty is sometimes conceptualized as a pre-disability (pre-care dependency) stage.It is understood to involve several issues (in addition to physical frailty are psychological frailty, social frailty and other domains of frailty), and to confer an increased risk of adverse health outcomes, such as disability and mortality.
